15 Years of Loka

Loka turns fifteen this year! To mark the occasion, the continental docks have been fully rebuilt, and Loka’s fishing systems have been overhauled. This milestone is being celebrated in ways that will continue to remain part of Loka for many years going forward.

New Docks

For the first time in over ten years, the continental docks of Kalros, Ascalon, and Garama have been fully rebuilt.

Each dock has been redesigned from the ground up to match Loka’s architectural and building standards. Additionally, each dock has been tailored to better align with the lore of each continent. The rebuild brings the docks visually in line with modern Aladra while preserving their identity as the primary points of entry to each Continent.

With this update, each dock now carries an official name rooted in its continent’s history.

Frey Harbor

  • The Kalros docks are now officially known as Frey Harbor.

  • The harbor takes its name from the Battle of Frey, a historic defense of Kalros against the Ascalonians that permanently shaped the identity of the Kalrosian people.

  • The new build reflects the four houses of Kalros: House Frida, House Varin, House Thorleik, and House Harrenfolk. The docks are now unmistakably Kalrosian and reflect the strength, tradition, and unity that define the continent.

Meridian Gate

  • The Ascalon docks are now officially known as Meridian Gate.

  • Taking its name from its position along Char’s central meridian and its role as the primary gateway to the continent, Meridian Gate stands as Ascalon’s boundary between the open seas and the continental mainland.

  • The new build reflects the divide between Ascalon’s two dominant guilds, the Explorers Guild and the Scholars Guild, and embodies the continent’s ambitious pursuit of knowledge and exploration.

Kotka Bay

  • The Garama docks are now known as Kotka Bay.

  • The name references Garama’s long-standing reverence for Kotka, the great Griffin, whose legend traces back to the sacred Mesa. As the birthplace of Garaman mysticism, the Mesa remains unsettled by the continent’s natives.

  • The new build leans into natural materials, open structures, and flowing layouts, drawing directly from Garama’s biome tribes, whose identities are rooted in the Desert, Savannah, Jungle, Swamp, and Pale Reaches.

Capital Visuals

The rebuild of the docks is not purely visual. Each dock now dynamically reflects its ruling capital:

  • Dock banners and guard shields now update automatically to match the ruling capital’s banner.

  • Guard NPC names and skins update based on who the ruling capital is and what color they’ve chosen.

  • Wool and candle coloring dynamically change to the capital’s chosen color.

Structural & Content Updates

These docks are intended to be permanent continental hubs going forward. In addition to the rebuild, each dock now includes new structural elements and functional systems that expand their role beyond just being a landing point.

  • Each dock now features a dedicated throne room, an updated dock & continent map, a lighting landmark, pathways out to the wilds, and a complete town layout.

  • Significantly expanded NPC population, including:

    • Biome Sailor NPC that allows nomads to be randomly teleported to a biome of choice.

    • Fish Buyer NPC that allows you to sell fish of varying sizes for shards.

    • Guard NPCs stationed throughout the docks.

  • Each dock now also features continent-specific banner art that represents its respective continent.

Fishing Update

Fishing has been expanded as part of the anniversary update. New rewards, systems, and integration with the docks now make it a more viable and worthwhile way to pass the time and earn shards moving forward.

Trico, Garama’s Continental Fish Buyer.

Haldii, the Aladran Fish Size Inspector.

Loot Table Overhaul

  • Fishing now uses brand new loot tables specific to each ocean on Loka.

  • You can now earn a variety of new rewards, including rare building blocks, potion materials, ancient ingots, armor trims, shards, recall stones, totems of undying, enchanted books, and much more!

  • Luck of the Sea now grants a 10% chance per level to provide an additional reward alongside your catch.

Fish Economy

  • Fish can now be sold to a Fish Buyer NPC for shards, with the reward depending on the size class (Tiny → Titanic) of the fish being sold.

  • Fish Buyers can be found near the water on each continent’s new docks.

A Fish Buyer’s vendor menu, where fish can be traded based on size class for shards.

  • Fish can now be put in a furnace to make them into cooked variants.

    • Varying fish sizes result in cooked fish that differing hunger and saturation.

    • Larger fish result in higher hunger and saturation but also take longer to cook.

    • Cooked fish are condensed into stacks, which depend on the size class they were before being cooked.

Fishing Tournament Updates

  • The fishing tournament has been updated with improved rewards for winners.

  • There is now a full loot table for participating in the tournament, making it worthwhile even if you don’t place in the top three.

  • There is an updated scoreboard for the top fish, the number of fish caught, and the tournament’s participants.
